Hi, my name is Izzy! I'm a 6 year old, neutered Great Dane who's looking for a home to call my own. I was living with another Dane and some cats for about 6 years, but was too headstrong to stay there any longer. After all this time, I went to the shelter because I like to chase cats way too much...and I can be too big and fiesty to stay gentle with them. So, now I am in a cat-free foster home with a lab and boxer who I love to lay around and bask in the sun-lit windows with! You may have heard of the "dane lean" where my brother's and sister's like to lean into you for love. I took it a bit further to let you know just how much I love you. I prefer to call my lean the "dane melt" since I try to become "one" with your leg. I LOVE to be loved - there's nothing better in the entire world...just to stand next to you until I fall asleep....even if you just have 1 finger touching my head! I had 20+ ticks on me when I was first rescued, so I might have stayed outside a bit too much before, which may have led me to this slight resistance I have of pee'ing outside when it's raining or dark. Hey...big boys can be scared, too! I am gentle on the leash after I get about the first 2 minutes of "being outside excitement" out of me. I'm still learning to mind my own business and let other dogs pass by without having to introduce myself impolitely. I am completely house-trained and have not had one accident in the house. I'll stay in a crate if you need me to, but since I'm completely trust-worthy with free roam of the house, I'd rather lay on that fluffy spot on the floor while you're gone! I did have heart worms that I was treated for the first week in rescue. I will be done with my 1-month treatment in mid June, and I'm up to date on all of my shots. There's not a good way for me to tell you what I'm like in writing - you have to meet me to understand that there's no way another dog is more loveable and as sweet as me. Yes, I know I can be bad around cats, but I'll work with your faults if you'll work with mine. Dane's are a man's best friend, and I could really use you in my life, forever...and I have a feeling I'm the perfect best friend for you, too :-)
