My Story

Zach and Cody are a gorgeous pair of bonded Holland Lop brothers! They are both about 4 years old (estimated birthdate June 20, 2019). They are good with respectful dogs and cats. Zach has a solid tan-coloured short coat, good teeth, and good weight. He loves to flop to sleep, and he's smart and harder to catch. He chases his brother Cody around when anticipating being fed pellets and is more likely to try new foods. He needs to be monitored for chewing inappropriately (e.g., edge of linoleum). He had one mild episode of GI stasis requiring veterinary intervention (Sept. 2022). Cody is tan coloured with black shoulders. He needs to be monitored for a tooth spur (lower right tongue side). He is a good weight, grooms Zach frequently, and is submissive to Zach (he runs away from him when anticipating being fed pellets). Cody is more cautious about new foods, but also more curious/bold to explore outside of his enclosure. He often watches over Zach when Zach sleeps. Once they have warmed up to you, they may lick or nudge you! Both love to chew/rip cardboard boxes, paper bags, and willow balls. They love their cardboard boxes and pet beds to rest/sleep on or under. They both like head pets, and they will allow grooming and nail trims but they don’t like it much – they prefer to be on the ground than held. They love their treats of banana & apple slices (fresh or dried) and their pellets – they will come running to you! They love Orchard grass hay from the hay rack, & Romaine lettuce and other greens/ herbs from a bowl or the floor. They prefer Timothy hay cubes over loose hay, They are mostly quiet during the day but at night they will rattle their x-pen enclosure with their teeth. They love to explore and run around/binky outside (we have a bunny-proofed garden), eat grass, and will often come back inside on their own to look for their evening share of pellets. They can run fast, are smart, and need supervision outside as they have escaped a few times (but were recovered)! If you can offer this bonded male duo a home, please apply today! The adoption fee is $150 for the pair. Please do your research and if you're interested in any of our rabbits, go to www.vrra.org to fill in our adoption application. We follow the House Rabbit Society adoption policies. For everything you need to know about caring for a bunny, visit the House Rabbit Society website at: www.rabbit.org. We strongly encourage all prospective bunny adopters to pick up a copy of “The House Rabbit Handbook: How to Live with an Urban Rabbit,” available from most online sellers (e.g., Amazon) as well at our shelter.
