My Story

Pellets: 1/8 cup Oxbow adult and 1/8 cup Oxbow Young Rabbit Hay: Half Alfalfa and Half Mixed hay (All day) Salad: 1/4 cup spring mix, parsley, cilantro, romaine lettuce (PM) Meet Mister, our awesome silver marten! He was discovered as a stray in an Imperial Valley parking lot and is now with us at SDHRS as of April 2024. At first a bit defensive, Mister has really opened up, showing off his lively personality. He's all about chew toys and hidey houses, especially when he's playing king of his castle on top of his hidey. Mister's ideal forever home has plenty of space for him to run around and play. He's getting the hang of using the litterbox and isn't a big fan of being picked up. But give him some time to warm up, and you'll see his energy and playfulness shine! Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease Virus (RHDV) is a highly contagious and deadly disease caused by a calicivirus that affects both wild and domestic rabbits. It is not contagious to people or other animals. For the first time, the virus is causing deaths in rabbits and hares native to North America and is spreading rapidly. UPDATE: In May 2021, California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) has confirmed new cases of RHDV in rabbits in Kern, Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego and Ventura County. In addition to detection of RHDV2 in wild cottontail rabbits and jackrabbits, RHDV2 has been confirmed in domestic rabbits on 50 premises, including a detection in a feral domestic rabbit.
