Hazel

Meet Harvey and Hazel! This "odd couple" have found themselves in the shelter after their previous owner no longer had the capacity to care for them. Harvey came to us with a bit of a head tilt and balance issues. Thanks to the quick catch from our vets and some testing he has been diagnosed with E. Cunniculi. E. Cunniculi is a pathogen that is spread through urine and affects the nervous system of a rabbit. It can cause some significant damage if not caught early but luckily we caught it and are treating them with Panacur. It is actually suspected that many more rabbits carry this than is known because not all rabbits will exhibit symptoms. Harvey is a big boy and Hazel is the tiniest little girl! Interestingly enough he's the younger one and she's the older lady- at 6 yrs old. She might be tiny.. but she's certainly mighty. She wears the pants in this relationship! While Hazel was obviously exposed to Harvey's urine, she exhibits no symptoms or deficits associated with E. Cunniculi. Someone understanding or willing to learn about E.
