My Story

They call me the Duchess of Delany Park. I was found by a nice family who lives near the park in downtown Orlando. The family never had a rabbit but was kind enough to rescue and foster me until a more permanent home was found. Animals are often dumped in parks and I am no different. If you think I look like a wild rabbit, you would be correct. As part of my nobility, I am an agouti colored rabbit, which is a pattern more familiar with wild rabbits, but trust me, I am very domesticated. I am a Duchess, after all and rule over my duchy with class and dignity. As soon as you walk in the room I am going to stand on my back legs and demand what is rightly mine - treats. Then, when you let me out of my castle, I will do zoomies and binkies like crazy. As a Duchess, I love to lay around while my human waits on me paw and paw. If you sit on the floor with me and give me some bunny approved treats (no fruit or carrots) I will jump in your lap and get in your face with kisses. I do sometimes enjoy being pet, but you will need to earn my trust and be very careful of my "crown." I prefer that you pet my body, instead of my head and ears. You can see from some of my photos that part of my ear is missing. Living in the park was dangerous but don't fret, my ear is just fine and I am very healthy. This might explain my need to occasionaly thump at the cats living in the house with me. Hmmmm, if they would just bring me treats. Although I like it when the human servants feed me by hand, don't let that or my title fool you. I am actually quite independent and just like to hang out with the humans in the house. I prefer a quiet castle and a home with no other species, if possible, but can tolerate a cat if I must. One thing that I have really come to enjoy since living a luxurious indoor life is my litter box. I love that it is always full of fresh green Timothy Hay and I use it every chance I get. I am not much of a chewer but I recently discovered areca palm leaf plates and my foster mom always makes sure one is available to me. You would think I was a queen. Are you ready for the royal treatment? I have been spayed and vaccinated and I am ready for a kingdom to call my own. We adopt to indoor homes only! If you are interested in adopting a bunny from Orlando Rabbit Care and Adoptions or would like more information on rabbit care, please visit our website at: http://www.orlandorabbit.org. The first step to our adoption process is to complete an adoption application, which can be found here: https://petstablished.com/adoption_form/55856/generic . Then one of our volunteers will reach out to you via email to schedule a time to speak with you. If you don't see the email in a day or two, please check your spam folder! Our Adoption Fee/Donation for a single rabbit is $100, while a pair is $170. This helps to offset the cost of having the rabbits altered, microchipped and vaccinated, as well as any medical care that may have been required.
