My Story

Crunchy is a lovely rabbit who has endured more than his fair share of hardship so far in his life. This little guy was abandoned outside and spent several weeks living in the bushes outside a Crunch Fitness facility. Over that time he picked up fleas, ticks and a cuterebra bot fly. He likely also went through a tornado – yes you read that right! Two weeks before his capture an EF0 tornado blew through directly across the street from the bushes he had been calling home! Needless to say he likes to seek shelter in a safe space when he hears storms rolling by outside now. Crunchy started out his time in foster care quite shy, however it appears that being housed on 'lava' (tile floors with blankets) was a major barrier to him discovering his confidence. After being moved to a carpeted room he has show his true colours! He loves exploring and likes to express that he thinks he should have even more space by looking for ways to escape. He loves to zoom around, and lounge under the furniture. He will still retreat to a covered space if startled but is much braver than he was. He will happily come over for treats and food, though he takes some coaxing to accept pets and does not like to be picked up when it's time for grooming. He seems to like hopping up on the couches to see what's going on up there and even if it means landing on a human or dog in the process! Crunchy loves to toss his food bowl around, and is particularly skilled at getting it to land in his water bowl. He seems to prefer the bowl to most actual toys. He does enjoy a good crunch on palm-based chews. He loves his pellets and has a good appetite for first-cut timothy hay (he thinks second cut is not as good!). He likes most greens other than Swiss Chard which he refuses to touch. His litter habits have been generally quite good. He would likely be a good candidate for bonding to a confident but not pushy/aggressive female. If Crunchy sounds like the bun for you, apply to make him part of your forever family!
