Abigail

Abigail was at DEATH'S DOOR, but turned her back and ran the other way! Abigail was Orange-Alerted (next day euthanasia) at South L.A. Shelter on May 10 due to critically fading away; depression, weight loss, refusal to eat, G.I. Stasis, abdominal mass. We had no foster for Abigail, but we pulled her out of the shelter anyway out of sheer desperation to save her and get the poor soul to our Vet asap. In such a terribly weakened state, Abigail was teetering so close to the brink, we feared she wouldn't survive the commute, let-alone the first few days of hospitalization. These are our Vet's words following Abigail's emergency surgery; they describe SEVERE INTERNAL DAMAGE caused by a BOTCHED SPAY: "I'm not sure how she'll do; she'll be critical for the next 7-10 days. Her left ureter was being completely occluded by the giant granulomatous blob, and I had to re-attach her ureter to her bladder. We'll monitor her kidney function, and pray she can urinate, and that that ureter doesn't scar-down and occlude. --If I had to guess, I'd say her chance of survival is only 10-20% -- but she recovered fairly quickly for having been more than two hours in surgery." (SPOILER -- SHE BEAT THOSE ODDS!!!!) This precious baby has sent the message loud and clear that SHE WANTS TO LIVE!!! This awesome little girl is doing great now!
