Ziva (aka Nala)

Latest from Foster Mom: General training: less jumping for attention, food, excitement, and in general. Still a bit mouthy, but no longer grabbing me with her mouth. Kennel training: no more struggling to move Ziva toward the kennel. She stores her toys in it & will visit to retrieve a toy or a stashed treat. She will not kennel from another room at this time, but will willingly go in if I stand next to it while giving the command. Place training: Ziva now lays down on command! Even in the middle of being worked up. Still working on "stay" while laying down, but on the plus side, she will "wait" while I go out the house doors - have not graduated to leaving the doors open behind me, though. Manners: Having a little bit of a challenge with not putting paws on the counters, but Ziva's a smarty pants and is self-correcting herself..mostly. Dog Etiquette: Unfortunately, she is still lacking. Her version of play initiation is more like "I like you! Hulk smash!" Meeting another dog is without incident until she attempts to play. I don't doubt that she'd be great with another dog, but she should be around a similarly sized dog that also plays rough. Quirks of the Week: Ziva is a vacuum and will find any & all crumbs. Putting her harness on now comes with the extra step of making sure her favorite toy doesn't get strapped in while she holds it. Will not sit directly on the couch but will sit on me in the couch. Personality: High energy, very much a puppy; loves to squeak the squeak out of squeaky toys; eager to please; non-destructive; respects set boundaries; bonds slowly. Ideal home: No small animals or cats due to intense "interest." No small children due to puppy energy/lack of personal bubble awareness. Adults are Ziva's bread & butter for seeking attention & approval.
