Zara

Hi my name is Zara and I am looking for an active buddy, I am an adult Mal mix girl who was used for breeding before coming into rescue. I just finished a 2 and a half week training and evaluation in an experienced foster home. At first I was a little shy and offstandish because I am slow to trust people. When I felt safe after the first few days, I had a lot of fun learning new things. I did really well on crate training and housebreaking. I had zero accidents and learned how to ask to go out. Although I am able to be quiet in a crate, I much prefer hanging out with my person. While you are busy, I will chew on a bone or Kong or entertain myself by playing with a ball. Once you are done, I would really like to go outside in the yard and play fetch. Ok, so I don't like giving up my toys but I will happily swap with you. My foster mom taught me to bring back the ball and spit it out to get her to throw the second ball. After I have had enough chase time, I will lay down in the shade and relax. I also learned how to slow down. I sit before the door opens to go back inside and I don't run in the house. I really like snacking so you can convince me to do almost anything with something tasty. I also come when you whistle and welcome some scratches to show me that I did the right thing. Oh! I forgot to say that I am really good at doggie puzzles. I did advanced puzzles on my second try. I am a very smart girl and I will thrive on interactions with my person. Don't tell because I am a guard dog, but I can appreciate down time by snoozing on my back in your lap while you watch tv or a movie. Once I am recharged I wouldn't mind using my sniffer to find hidden treats.
