*****Belgian Malinois Adoption requirements***** The dog you have selected is a Belgian Malinois. This is a breed that has very specific needs for an adoptive home. Because of their need for a high level of exercise, both mentally and physically and their need for ongoing training, only applicants with demonstrated owner/handler experience with this breed will be considered. The vast majority of them are not best suited as family pets, but in homes with experienced handlers knowledgeable of their needs and breed characteristics. We will not place in homes with small children or small dogs/cats. Alongside his sister Zoe, who has since found her forever home, Zack was rescued by HARTT from a challenging situation. They were among several dogs found in rough shape, highlighting the hardships they endured. Zack's past has left him with deep-seated fears, likely stemming from neglect or abuse. He exhibits fear aggression, particularly in his kennel, as a defense mechanism to communicate his need for space. But beneath this protective facade lies a heart yearning for trust and understanding. In the shelter environment, life has been tough for Zack. However, outside his kennel, he shows signs of progress. He now walks on a leash and has begun to trust a few dedicated volunteers who handle and pet him. Most notably, Zack shines when he's around other dogs. Their company transforms him, revealing a playful and vibrant side that otherwise remains hidden. What Zack Needs: We are seeking a special home for Zack - one that understands his needs and can offer the patience and love he deserves.
