Yukon is a classic, beautiful Yellow Lab, and he's 100lbs of pure love and happiness! He's a big yellow potato, just as his name implies :o ) We estimate Yukon at about 2.5 yrs old. He is good with other dogs, cats, and kids.
Sadly, Yukon's owner dropped him off at the county shelter and said they had found him as a stray, but luckily, a neighbor called and clarified that he was actually their dog. Nice, huh? Yukon was dropped off at the shelter because they said he had frequent seizures. Little did they know (or care enough to research,) that many cases of seizures in dogs are actually an allergic sensitivity to poor quality food or grains. We can see other evidence of him having been fed a poor quality food, so we have switched him to a grain free diet.
So far (as of June 10th), Yukon has had two seizures since being with us. They were a month apart, and lasted about three minutes. So Yukon won't probably ever be completely seizure free, but they are pretty infrequent. Thankfully not enough to warrant anti-seizure meds. As a result of his seizures, we want to adopt him to a home that is okay with seeing an occasional seizure. It seems to be okay for adults, but hard on children, who can't understand that the dog isn't in pain when he has a seizure.
If you can look past this small disability, Yukon is a GREAT dog!

Adoption Process: We are not first come first served. Indigo Rescue focuses on finding good matches between dogs and families to ensure life long adoptions. We deliver all dogs to their new homes.
All of our dogs are in foster homes. We have adoption events at the Beaverton PetSmart every other Saturday where you can meet many of our dogs at once. Click Here for our Calendar of Events. Or, if you're interested in a particular dog, you can send an e-mail via the e-mail link at the bottom of the page ("Email Indigo Rescue") with answers to the questions below. If the dog seems compatible with your situation we'll set up a time for you to meet the dog.
Do you have other pets now? (briefly describe)
Have you had pets in the past? What became of them?
What kind of exercise will you provide for the dog? (type/frequency)
What is your schedule like? How long/often will the dog be alone?
Where will the dog be while you're gone? Where will the dog be when you're home? Where will the dog sleep?
Who else lives in the home? Do you have children? How old are the children?
Are you in a home or apartment? How long have you lived there? Do you have a fully, securely fenced yard? (type/height)
Do you own or rent your home?
What changes in your life are likely in the next 10+ years (or life span of the dog) and how will the changes affect the dog? (moving, job or schedule change, school, having children)
Anything else you'd like us to consider in finding the right dog for your family?
Thank you for your interest in adopting and saving a life!
