Yuki, aka Yoyo is a very shy pup who's looking for a patient and understanding family to call her own. Yuki can be very timid at first, but she gets curious and wants to be loved. Yuki is very smart and very observant. Although she had not lived with humans during the first 6 months of her life, after coming into her foster home, Yoyo quickly learned to love her crate, to hold her potty until she is outside, to eat her meals quickly, and to use the doggy door. Yoyo enjoys other dogs' company, and she has a gentle and submissive chase-and-play play style. Although she has not been officially cat tested, she did not show any interest in neighborhood outdoor cats or wild rabbits.
Yoyo walks very well on a leash despite not having formal training. She stays on the sidewalk and follows leash directions. Living outside in her past, Yoyo enjoys fresh air and likes to be outside. But she also enjoys the comfort of warm blankets on the sofa and soft bedding in her crate. Yoyo has grown to love toys too. Her favorite toys include a gator plush toy which she cuddles to sleep every night, and a few snuffle puzzles of which she can work treats out. She is very gentle with her toys. However, she is not protective of them, or her food, nor other resources.
Reserved at first, Yoyo watches her humans closely and tries to understand their expectations. To correct her behavior, you do not need to say "no" or raise your voice; Just a frown or an accusatory look is enough to send Yoyo to her crate, self-quarantine style. A gentle stroke on her head and a simple "Yes" will light up her eyes and make her feel confident again. Yoyo has a gentle soul.
As her foster family for the last a couple months, we would like to see her going to a calm, gentle person/family. She does not need a doggy sibling necessarily, but having one she likes will probably boost her confidence and help with her transition. We would also suggest keeping her on a consistent routine, including feeding/walk time and the place where she sleeps. Having predictable structure in her life really helps her feel safe and confident, since she did not grow up with any predictability. We also hope for someone with patience and kindness who can allow her to come out at her own pace. It might take Yoyo a few weeks to be acclimated to her new home and to build enough trust with her adoptive family. But once she does, she will blossom into the most loyal and devoted girl who will never leave your side.
Please contact Soul dog and her foster family if you want to open your heart and home to this sweet girl, who has endured so much misfortune in her past, but still has the purest eyes and the most gentle heart.
