My Story

Looking for a companion to chill with in the AC on these hot days? Look no further. Xena is the girl for the job! Great personality! She is always in a good mood. She greets you with tail wagging excitement. Stranger introductions in new territory might need to go slowly. She can be cautious with new things. But after a few seconds she charges ahead to see what life has to offer. Easy to leash in her kennel and go. Very loving and affectionate. Eager to see you, sits politely while you decide who to take out next. Although her pleading eyes will tug at your heart. Pick me pick me!!! Strong walker. Xena is not a dog that will do well in heat. Early morning walks and evening exercise is best. Walks by dogs ok. Our cat testers gave her quite a hard time hissing and repeatedly giving smacks on the nose. They seemed immediately defensive and grouchy with her. She stood her ground but did not offer any lunging or return fussing. Bit did not really turn and walk away either. Although she tested alright with animals, she has a higher excitable energy that may be too much for some dogs. Meet and greets would determine if she is willing to share you. She may want you all to herself. Cats should be given their own space to meet her and not feel boxed in. Height levels and exits help cats adjust to the new creature. Separating animals for the first two weeks so they can gradually get to know smells and movements of their new roommate is the best way to provide a smooth transition and build positive relationships between roommates. HSWC best hugger!!Although we try to teach good manners here, it's difficult to curb her enthusiasm for giving hugs. She insists on giving you love. Honestly, it's the best part of our day when she hugs and looks lovingly into our eyes. There is no better feeling than to be loved. Xena would benefit from some basic obedience training. The training process will help her become more confident and teach her what to do with her excitable energy. She responds well to direction and cares about what you want her to do. She can pull some at the beginning of her walk, she is not used to being confined in a kennel. Once she gets out she is ready to see, smell and give love because she has been cooped up alone and needs to get her wiggles out. Changing directions often during her walk will teach her to stay by your side and follow your direction. She checks in with her person and wants to please. Training will be accomplished easily with repetition. She has had her heart broken, misses having people to love and has been through quite a ruff go of it. She offers pure love, attention and affection for her companion. She needs a dedicated hooman that will return affection and commit to forever. All of our surrenders break our hearts but this girl needs a great forever family that will help her enjoy life and be treated well. If you are ready for a true love that wants nothing more than to give you all of herself... please fill out an application for this super sweet loving gal. She has been waiting for you and is ready to get started filling your heart with love. Primary Color: Blue Secondary Color: White Weight: 62.8lbs Age: 4yrs 1mths 1wks
