My Story

Wolfie (A096866) is a 10-year-old Alaskan Husky mix who weighed 99.1 pounds on intake! 06/18/24 This wonderful lady is Wolfie! Wolfie was surrendered back to the shelter because her prior owner felt they could not give her the attention she deserved after they welcomed a baby into their home. Wolfie was described as an awesome dog with an outgoing, friendly, and affectionate personality! She was said to be people-friendly but does not always enjoy the company of rambunctious kiddos. Wolfie was also said to prefer people to other animals and would prefer to be the only pet in the home. She was said to be housebroken, obedience trained, and rides well in a car. Wolfie is on thyroid medication and she will need to be on this medication for life. We encourage her next owner to reach out to their vet for more information on hypothyroidism in dogs. Courtesy of our shelter fund Wolfie also had her teeth cleaned! This lady would love to find her new retirement home! If you are interested in meeting Wolfie, please let us know! 03/28/22 This sweet but oh so chunky girl is Wolfie! Wolfie was surrendered to the shelter because her previous owner could no longer care for her. Wolfie is morbidly obese and needs an owner who is devoted to helping her shed a few pounds. This will make a great impact on her health and mobility as she ages. We encourage her new owners to discuss weight loss programs with their veterinarian. A few easy things to get her started is to reduce her overall calorie intake and to spread out her feedings into multiple small meals throughout the day. Wolfie would also benefit from getting some more exercise on the daily basis! Due to her weight she may need to start on short walks more frequently and then work up to going on longer walks. Wolfie was said to do well with people of all ages including babies and children! Her prior owner did not leave any information on how she does with other critters (we believe she came to the shelter with a neutered male dog) so please make sure to do all introductions in a slow, safe, and controlled environment. Wolfie was said to be housebroken, ride well in a car, and to mind well! However, she was known to get into the trash on occasion. Wolfie was described as being an outgoing, friendly, and affectionate gal! She has been super sweet and easy to handle here at the shelter. Wolfie did come to the shelter with an ear infection and was treated by our shelter veterinarian- her new owner should make sure here ears are clean and dry and keep an eye out for any future irritation/infection. If you are interested in meeting Wolfie and helping her get back into shape please give the shelter a call!
