My Story

Click here to fill out our online adoption application. !!!!!!!!!!!!ADOPTION PENDING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Winnie is brand new to our program. We're not sure of her lineage but she is a terrier mix with wiry hair and she's just too sweet and adorable to go unnoticed. The following is what Winnie's foster parents had to say about her. "Winnie seems to be potty trained. She has only had one accident in the house and it was the day I brought her home. She pooped in my hallway but she had not been outside yet since we got home because of the sleet. She is an excellent dog! She gets along great with my 14 week old lab and my male miniature schnauzer. My female miniature schnauzer is a little scared of her but Winnie didn't do anything to her to make her scared. Winnie loves to snuggle in my lap or in the bed with me. She loves to give kisses and play. She is such a sweetie pie. I don't know how she will do with cats or other animals but she does great with my dogs so I have no reason to believe she wouldn't also love cats. She is super smart! She learned her name in less than 24 hours. She did well when I gave her a bath. She picks up on things very quickly. She adapted to my families life style within a day. She follows me around the house. She has to be where ever the action is. She even goes into the bathroom with me when I take a shower. She just lays in the floor until I get done. She is so precious and will make a wonderful addition to anyones family." Winnie is about 18 months old and weights 24 pounds. She has been spayed and is up to date on shots. She unfortunately did not have the best of care before being rescued, as Winie is heartworm positive. Our vet recommends the conservative treatment course for her which is to keep her on an ivermectin based heartworm prevention such as Heartguard or Iverhart until she tests negative for heartworms. At that point she can be placed on the adopters choice of heart worm prevention. If you are interested in adopting Winnie please fill out an on line adoption application.

Note: All applications are processed in the order received, but an adoption is made to the best application received for each of our animals. All applicants must provide a vet reference on the adoption application. If you are adopting a dog from ARFA, a fenced in yard for the dog will be required. Home visits often occur on each adoption. ARFA has the right to deny adoption to any applicant for any reason without explanation. Please remember that the adoption fee is not for purchase of a dog, but rather to cover the medical cost of all dogs in our care.
