My Story

PLEASE READ THE INFORMATION IN THE DOG'S PROFILE, AS WELL AS THE INFORMATION ON OUR WEBSITE BEFORE EMAILING US WITH QUESTIONS. Our Volunteers use up valuable time answering questions, when the answers are readily available on our website. Our adoptions come with 30 days of free post-adoption support through Petcademy.org. We are a foster-based rescue. We do not have a facility. MEET & GREETS FOR DOGS IN ONTARIO WILL ONLY BE ARRANGED ONCE AN ADOPTION APPLICATION IS APPROVED. THANK YOU!!! Please visit our website for more information: https://www.niagaradogrescue.com/ or fill in our adoption application: https://niagaradogrescue.com/adoption-application.php OUT-OF-TOWN Dogs with NDR refer to dogs we have saved that have yet to make their journey to Ontario. These dogs are currently in our care with the help of our partners in the area. These dogs will all travel to the Niagara Region once an appropriate adopter or local foster is found. This dog is currently located in: Texas Name: Winnie (20240406-01) Weight: 64 lbs Age: 2 years Gender: female Neutered/spayed: yes Breed: husky mix Colour: brown, tan & white Neck size (for collar): Height (from top of head): Length (from nose to base of tail): Crate size recommended: xl Good with adults: yes Good with kids: yes, but probably older kids because of her size and exuberance Good with other dogs: yes, with slow introductions and no small dogs Good with cats: no House trained: yes Crate trained: yes Energy level: medium can be high when excited/playing, but also relaxes and loves to cuddle. Can be handled/touched: yes Barker: She barks, when playing or someone is at the door, but not a lot Flight risk: yes, all dogs are flight risks until know it’s their home. Food aggressive: unknown as she is fed separately Walks on leash: yes Rides well in car: yes Destructive: if bored she will dig holes. Still loves to chew on bones and hard toys. (It’s a husky trait) Needs a home with a yard: yes, needs a large yard Needs a home with another dog: no Can live in an apartment: no Foster insights/story: Winnie is a very loving dog. She is quick to learn and minds well but that husky stubbornness comes out occasionally. She loves to play and run outside but can be calm in the home. I think she will make a good walking dog for someone and she would really benefit from that. She’s not good around small dogs as she either runs them over because of her exuberance or can be dominant with them. She will be a wonderful addition to your family!
