*************ADOPTION PENDING**************
UPDATE:05/31/06 - Finally, there is light at the end of the tunnel for this little guy. He has come through his full heartworm treatment and is actually starting to feel better and becoming more active each day. He will need to be retested for heartworms to ensure he is clear and then will be prepared for adoption. It will be at least another 2-3 weeks before he will be ready to go. Thank you everyone for your prayers for this guy and please contact me if you are interested in adopting him.
05/17/06 - unfortunately Willy has taken a turn for the worse, the dying heartworms have caused fluid to begin to fill his lungs so he is on some heavy duty antibiotics to try to stop this before it becomes full blown pneumonia. He is still scheduled to have his full heartworm treatment this month and we are hoping that he will be strong enough to survive it this time.
30 April 06: Willy has survived his first round of heartworm treatement, he has another round due in May where he will get the full dosage. Keep your fingers crossed that he survives this next round - after that he should be on the mend and almost ready to be adopted.
17 April 06: Willy has tested positive for heartworms, so he is now beginning treatment and hopefully he will survive the treatment and the heartworms will be killed off.
Willy is a very friendly 5 year old neutered male. He seems to get along well with most people and likes other dogs as well. He does have the greying face which makes him look older than he is but this is typical of a former puppymill or noneducated breeder.
Willy is almost solid seal and is approximately 16-17" at the shoulders so he is a very talk IG. He is active and loves to play. He was wearing a harness that was very very tight so has some rubbing and open wounds under his front legs and on his chest that are healing now. He also needs a dental. Once that is taken care of he will be ready to find a new home.
Please ensure you have researched this breed and understand the good and bad of this breed before applying.
