My Story

BLOUNT COUNTY HUMANE SOCIETY ? COURTESY POST ? ?Hello this is Willow? She is 6 years old this Christmas. She’s an unbelievably sweet doggy to humans. She loves to jump and give kisses. She loves belly rubs. She tolerates my kids dressing her up. She is house trained and listens to commands. We believe that she is a Brittany, maybe a pointer. She has been a furry part of our family for 4 years. We rescued her from a shelter where she had been attacked by a pit bull and required to have one of her hind legs have surgery. She’s is doing great and you would never know anything physically happened to her. Mentally is a different story. She is scared of other dogs now. She thinks they all want to hurt her so she tries to get the jump on them. She went to training for aggression toward dogs. She does better as long as she has a gentle lead on while walking her. She has no play mates because we don’t want to risk dog parks with her. We think that since she has no play mates and we are gone from the house most of the day everyday that it has worsened her anxiety. She has free rein over the house when we leave. She doesn’t mess anything up or chew anything. Unless…there is rain, thunderstorms, gun shots, loud bangs. She has tried to dig her way to safety through 1 chair. When we are home during one of those events she tries to dig her way to safety through us. She has gone through 4 different types of kennels. She always makes her grand escape from them. We have tried everything that we can think of to help her with her anxiety. Thunder jacket, calming collars, calming chews, calming spray, peaceful music, Dog TV, lick plates, doggy CBD oil, and almost every anxiety pill known to man. Nothing helps. We have finally found a vet who says it sounds like she needs to be worked. Since she is a breed of dog who should be hunting, if she gets out of the house and is able to do her job then most, if not all, of her anxiety will go away. We don’t have the yard, knowledge, or time ability to do that for her. We have provided a loving, safe home for her for the past 4 years but she needs more than that. She has routine vet visits through out the year. She is up to date on all her vaccines. She has been spayed and microchipped. We need to find her a different home, where she can run around outside. She doesn’t deserve to live her life doped up on medicines. We want more for her! We really just need the reassurance that she’s going to a better suited home. We plan on meeting new families to make sure she will be fine going to the new home. We want it better for her! Please private message me if you might be the right fit or if you know anyone who may be. Thank you for taking the time to read my post. For more info call Justin @ (865) 361-0387 Approx. 40lbs
