Wilbur was adopted in February 2022 but returned in June 2024 due to his family losing their home and being unable to keep their dogs. Wilbur was previously living with children ages 5 and 12 and did great with them! He was living with another dog, and the family stated that he used to be okay with other dogs until he was attacked by one and now he can be scared of new dogs. During our dog test at the shelter, Wilbur was actually very willing to meet another dog and seemed to display playful and excited behavior, so his behavior may vary from one dog to another. It may be best to set up a meet and greet for any dogs currently in the home to see how they get along. Wilbur needs a home with no cats or other small animals. Wilbur is a big friendly boy who loves greeting people with kisses and cuddles! His family said he is housebroken and loves spending time outside! Wilbur also loves a good play session with toys, but was polite in giving them back and sat and waited for them to be thrown again for him! All dogs over 6 months have been heartworm tested, and all dogs are treated monthly for fleas/ticks and are on Heartworm prevention (NexGard PLUS). All pets are spayed/neutered prior to a finalized adoption. All our dogs receive a behavior assessment before being placed for adoption to determine initial behaviors towards people and other dogs in the shelter environment.
