Whiskey

Whiskey is an approximately 2 year old mix of miniature poodle and terrier and has a beautiful non-shedding coat that gets curly when long. He is a super smart, medium sized dog. 15 inches high at the shoulder and about 25 lbs he follows the poodle type and would be great for an active single or family. Those long legs make for an energetic dog and he needs to be exercised multiple times a day, we are talking 2 or 3 brisk walks or active playtime. We think his best environment would be a single family home, fenced yard, predominantly female, and with someone home most of the time, perhaps older children who can share in the exercise. He loves his leash walks, does not pull, knows the common commands (Sit, Stay, Down, Come, Heel, Off, No) and has learned some tricks. Whiskey is very treat and toy motivated so easy to train. His manners vary by his energy level, obedient, affectionate and snuggly when tired, rambunctious when bored and/or not exercised. He will bark at strange men and when left alone for long periods, otherwise he is a quiet dog. He is not keen on salon groomers so an owner experienced in grooming poodle types would be an advantage. He needs new owners who have the time to complete his training and who want to take him with them on outings, he is good in a crate in the car. SECOND, we determine whether the dog that has been applied for is a "good match" for the household that wants to adopt him/her. We take into consideration the dog's activity level, compatibility with other members of the household (human and other pets), etc. If your application has been approved, but the dog you applied for is no longer available, please take the time and look over our adoptable dogs again.
