My Story

Wesley and Otto Bonded pair! $800 adoption fee is for both! Meet Wesley, a 1.5-year-old, 16 lb. miniature schnauzer with a black and white coat, docked tail, and unaltered ears. Wesley has been neutered and is up-to-date on all vaccinations and exams and does not have any known history of illness or medical needs. Wesley is a feisty little boy that loves to play with his brother and foster brother, and never shies away from new experiences. He has learned so much in such a short time (ringing bells to go outside, using a Kong for food, shaking, using treat puzzles, etc.), and is very eager to learn more! This smart boy leads the pack despite his small stature. Wesley has learned how to be relaxed and at ease with his foster humans and loves to be snuggled up next to us in the evenings, but only after a full day of energetic curiosity learning new things. He loves all kinds of toys and gets very happy and excited for new experiences, running around in circles excitedly, ears up and tail wagging! Wesley and Otto are a bonded pair being fostered in the Columbus, Ohio area. Since Otto and Wesley have spent their whole lives together, we would like them to be adopted together as well. They were adopted at 6 months, returned to the breeder 11 months later (due to their owners’ entry into hospice care), and made their way to us in January. It is suspected that this time with their former owner included some neglect and perhaps abuse, as they can be fearful of new people. It doesn’t take long for them to warm-up, but they still go into protective mode when strangers come into their space. They have come a long way but would do best with new parents that will continue to work with them on trust and socialization. They are housebroken and get along well with other dogs but have not been tested with cats or children. We have not used a crate with them, rather started them in a designated area and slowly expanded that area when away from home. They would likely do best in a home with adults and older children only, and parent(s) who aren’t gone for long stretches at a time. A fenced in yard would also be recommended as these two are still learning leash etiquette. We hope that whoever adopts them will keep their new names for some consistency in their lives, as they are on his third names already. If you think you could be their human(s), we would love to hear from you! These special boys have been a pleasure to have in our home, and we can tell they just want to love and be loved in return.
