My Story

Meet Wasabi! Wasabi was Born in November 2023. His sister, Sushi came to our rescue when she was 8 weeks old. She was the most wonderful puppy and she found the most amazing home. So when Wasabi needed help, we were excited to welcome him to our family too. Wasabi is a labrador retriever mix (heavy on the lab). We expect him to grow up to be medium to large sized. We don't suspect he'll be too big when he grows up. Wasabi has a history of abuse and neglect. But now that he's left his past behind him, you'll never know it. He is a happy go lucky boy who is sweet as can be. He can be a bit timid when first meeting new people, but it goes away in a hot second (especially if treats are involved). We think with continued positive experiences with loving people, he'll get over his initial insecurity in no time. He's already come so far. Wasabi is spectacular about his housebreaking. And he does well in a crate. He is still a puppy however so he needs to be let out often. He's a pretty high energy guy so he'll need either another dog to rough and tumble with or an active family that plans to do all sorts of fun stuff with him. He loves wrestling and playing with other dogs and he is so, so affectionate. He gets so excited to see you - it's the absolute cutest. He loves playing with toys and is just learning to bring them back, and he'll do anything for food, so training is a breeze. Wasabi was placed in a home with cats and he was a little much for them. It's why he made his way back to our rescue. Without another dog to play with, he decided the cats were his wrestle buddies and they did not appreciate it. At our facility, he lives we 2 cats and does just fine, however he receives considerable daily exercise and play time with his best dog pal, and our cats are good about setting boundaries and don't tolerate rambunctious puppies. We believe with adequate exercise and cats that aren't afraid of puppies and setting boundaries, he'll be just fine - but with older more timid cats, he might be a bit much. Wasabi is neutered, current on his vaccinations, has been microchipped and is in great health.
