My Story

Wally was also found as a stray and spent at least four weeks in a pound. He is supposed to be about two years old. When we pulled him from the pound, he was the most pathetic dog I have seen. He was so ill we didn't know if he would live during his trip back to Phoenix. He was matted and filthy, could hardly walk, and smelled to High Heaven. After a quick visit to a groomer who bathed him twice in shampoo for dogs who had met a skunk, he began to smell and feel better. He had most of his coat clipped off to remove the mess. He is yet to be neutered, but will be as soon as he is up to it. After he was groomed, he was able to leap easily into the back of the SUV and into the crate. So just a few hours began to make a huge difference with this boy.

He is very thin and needs to gain lots of weight. Wally is hoping someone out there needs what at the moment seems to be a pretty laid back giant to lean on them. Wally was great with the groomer yesterday even though he was miserable. Give him 4-5 weeks and we will post a new picture and you can see the improvement.

We don't know as much about Wally but we are learning. Wally is learning to play with other dogs as you can see in the photo. He is a quiet giant who wants to be right with his humans. Nothing would make him happier than to be laying right at your feet. Wally is such a sweet boy. He loves attention and is quite good with the clippers. He seemed to know about the doggy door immediately. He is good about being handled so someone must have spent some time with him. It isn't going to take Wally very long to be happy and healthy. He is a real lover! He is quiet so he may do well around small children, but we have no idea about that at this point. Wally may be a black Russian terrier. He has been neutered now and is feeling much better than when he came. He is doing very well.

We are almost certain that Wally is a black Russian terrier. He is continuing to gain weight and his true self is starting to emerge. He is a wonderful dog and there are several people who are wanting Wally to come and live with them. We will look at Wally's needs and select the best home for him after his horrible stay at the animal shelter. Wally is a true miracle dog from what we saw that first day.

Wally is a black Russian terrier and has been adopted by a wonderful lady with BRT experience who will guide Wally through his rehab and get him back to the wonderful dog we know he can be. He is a very laid back dog who knows a few hand signals. Wally continues to live up to his miracle dog status and is improving daily. The latest update on Wally is that he is now up to a 110 pounds and has a wonderful BRT pup to play with and a large area to run and play. He is a true miracle dog.
