Wake

!!Due to current regulations, dogs belonging to rescues and shelters in DE can't leave the state if they're already in it, or enter it if they're outside of it. This regulation is in place until 8/13/24 (at least). Please keep this in mind when applying to adopt. Dog Name: Wake Breed: Mixed Breed Sex: Male Age: DOB: 5/20/2022 Weight: approx 60 lbs Medical Needs: none Housebroken: Yes, Wake has been with me for about two weeks. He only potted inside twice and I think both were my fault. He typically with stand at the back door if he really has to go he will ring the bell at the door. Crate trained: Yes, if you tell him to go in his crate he will. Good in the car: Yes! In the beginning he acts like he needs help in but he can get in by himself! Good on a leash: Yes, he will pull but if you correct him before he does with a tug the opposite way he will correct himself. Energy level: Medium/ high, he has his moments when he likes to just hang out! The high moments are typically when other dogs are around, he tends to be a wild player so he does need correction sometimes. I say leave it and he will bounce away quickly! He's a great listener he just needs direction as he is stilll figuring out how to dog. Need a fenced in yard: No but would highly recommend it. In the backyard he is speedy Gonzalez! I typically keep a leash on him because it's easy to capture him instead of playing tag for a half hour As of yesterday (7/22), he has decided he is going to be a good boy and comes inside on his own! No more leash needed. When outside I keep a bag of treats on me to practice recall. I say his name, he comes to me, he sits get a treat! Dog Friendly: Yes, he loves other dogs! If yes, does your foster need another dog in its adoptive homes? No, but if he does have one they need to be able to handle a wild stallion! He likes playing and he will boop the dog until they play back unless told otherwise. Cat Friendly? Yes, he has his moments where he will chase the cats but it's only my one foster cat. I think he thinks that's his bestie which Shrek believes otherwise. If he is pow powed with the paws of the cat he will back off but continue to try and play till you correct him. Kid Friendly: Yes, would prefer children that are stable and can correct him as needed. If yes, what's the youngest child you'd recommend they be placed with? He has been around a 3 year old, he was leashed. She is also knows how to give direction to the dogs and they listen. Special traits that make your foster special or that we need to know about them? Wake has a personality that can light up a room! You're sad? Not anymore! He stays as close as possible with you and I mean stepping on the back of yours shoes while walking over even sitting on top of you while relaxing on the couch! Wake was found on the streets and sat in the Dover Brandywine SPCA for 2 months..before I laid my eyes on him! He was standing in his cage so calmly and looked so sad. I typically go for the shutdown ones because they struggle in the shelter. In the past two weeks Wakes personality keeps arising to the surface. He has me laughing all the time! He is the biggest cuddle bug! If he wants your attention he will roll all over you and pat you with his paws! At night time it takes him some time to settle down for bed! I think he's just filled with excitement to be sleeping with someone! When he does fall asleep and you wake up he typically will be cuddled up into your neck! He is truly a love bug just doesn't completely understand his size yet Wake will need someone who is going to continue to correct him. He is 2 but displays many puppytisms and needs supervision till he learns right from wrong. He is learning and is super smart just needs the guidelines to the proper life!
