My Story

I'm a ladies man! (really, ladies only please)

Tuffy is tiny and spunky!  He is approx. 8-9 years old and weighs about 5 lbs.

Tuffy was found as a stray, so we can't be sure of his past, but we do know that he is very afraid of men.  He LOVES his foster Mom, but if he even sees a man, he barks and runs behind the washing machine to hide.  He has been in his foster home for 3 months, and has made slight progress with this, but it may take a long time before Tuffy overcomes this behavior.

Therefore, in order for Tuffy to be happiest, we are asking for a 'ladies only' home.  Possibly the very best fit for Tuffy would be a pretty quiet place, not a lot of visitors or children coming and going, where things are pretty low key.  He will bond with his female owner and it will take a lot of time, patience and love to help Tuffy appreciate any other family member.

Even though Tuffy has this slight 'problem', he is one adorable character!  He loves playing 'fetch' and is an absolute clown outside in the morning - he picks a spot on the grass and rolls around - so cute!  When he thinks you haven't been paying him enough attention, he will come stand in front of you and make the cutest little noise - almost like 'talking'!

He is used to a doggy door in his foster home and enjoys going in and out as he pleases.  He gets along ok with other dogs - as long as they aren't domineering - another small dog would be fine.

Because of his small size, he gets cold easily and wears a shirt if the temperature falls below 70.  Special care needs to be taken to ensure that he doesn't get stepped on or shut in a door.  You also need to check your fence for even the smallest hole.  Dogs this tiny have been known to be picked up by large birds too - so probably best not to leave him unattended outside.

That's a lot of info. for a tiny dog - but little Tuffy is worth it.  He will give the right lady loads of unconditional love and companionship.

Please contact his foster Mom to make an appointment to meet Tuffy : 210-490-1024.
