My Story

Sophie and Tuck have gone to stay in a wonderful home with another doggie sibling. If all goes well thsi lovely family plans to adopt both Sophie and Tuck!
Please contact the SPCA for the latest information regarding their adoption status.

Huge thanks to Terri and her family for taking these two into your home!

Upon Arrival:

Tuck, Talan and Sophie are three wrinkly pups waiting for new homes at the Burnaby SPCA. All three dogs came in from the same place and all three were in very bad shape when they arrived. They have now gained weight and will all be spay or neutered, health checked and will have needed entropian surgery as soon as the SPCA hospital can fit them in. They will then be ready to be placed in new homes.

TnT has been unable to find foster homes for all but one of the dogs, lucky Tuck is going to his foster to adopt home very soon. Sophie and Talan are in need of foster or adoption homes and would benefit greatly from at least temporary in home care.

If you are able to help provide a temporary home or adopt one or both of these dogs please contact the Burnaby SPCA , please leave a message at 604-709-6700 or Email: [email protected]. You can also contact us at [email protected] for more information on how to foster or adopt a Shar-pei.

More about the dogs...
All three of these dogs are under 12 months old and there are two Males and one Female. The white boy's name is Talon and the fawn colored dogs are Sophie and Tuck. All are very handsome but a bit timid at the moment; Talon is the most camera-friendly, the other two were a bit shy at photo time. Thus, Talon is the star in the bunch and the only one you can get a real good look at.
Sweet Sophie is the friendliest of the trio, all are friendly dogs but the boys take a bit longer to warm up to new people. Once warmed up Talon is the most playful, Sophie gives the best kisses and Tuck will be a good mix of both ones he can see better. Tuck has very poor vision that will be just fine once he has had his needed surgery. He will then be as playful and kissy as his brother and sister we are certain!
To see them better, get to know them and find out more please visit the Burnaby SPCA or contact them for more information.

These dogs all get on well with each other but individual homes will be suitable if a home for all three cannot be found. At this time what they all need most is some TLC, a healthy diet to help them gain weight and improve their coats. They also will eventually need eye entropian surgery and this will be done as soon as their overall health has improved and they are surgery ready. They will also be spay/neutered at that time.

Any health issues these dogs, and most Shar-pei have are easy to overcome with proper care. Most Shar-pei would not have these common health issues if cared for as they should be from puppy-hood.
Shar-pei may be prone to skin problems but most often a proper diet will correct this.
Eye entropian surgery is often needed at one time or another in many Shar-pei and if not tended to can lead to more serious issues. Entropian surgery is common and requires only a minor surgery usually done at the time of spay or neuter.

Sadly these three have come from the same place Buster and Frank came from. Buster found a happy new home but Frank did not; both can be seen in our 'Happy Tails' pages.

These three dogs seem to be better socialized but in worse shape than their brethren. The SPCA is working to improve their health and happiness as well as look into their past in hopes of preventing future dogs from ending up in the same situation.
