My Story

Trudy was rescued 3/11/04 from an Appalachian West Virginia pound, where she had quietly waited shince the end of February, along with many other woderful dogs, to either be claimed by her owner or discovered by a new family. Her foster mom had passed her by for a couple of weeks because she figured this little prize, weighing only 23.3 lbs. on 3/15/04 at an estimated age of 2 years, would be snapped right up by some lucky family. But no one looked past her unkempt hairdo to her fabulous calm and affectionate personality. Unfortunately, Trudy's foster mom doesn't have time for grooming with all of the vet and supply errands and other foster care activities involved in taking care of numerous rescue/foster dogs; so she is going to need some "beauty shop" treatment when she gets into her new home. Trudy is fine around cats and gets along well with other dogs; and she is a real people lover, always sitting quietly nearby awaiting an opportunity for some affection. While she does play some with other dogs her size in her foster home, human loving is what she lives for and will even stop eating for that. She dreams of being a lap dog. This extremely gentle, petitie little girl stands only 16 inches tall at the shoulder and measures the same from the base of her neck to the base of her tail. Speaking of standing, Trudy could probably set the world record for how long she can stand on her hind legs awaiting a forthcoming treat. Surprisingly, Trudy tested negative for heartworms, but she did have a skin infection (allergies) and commonly associated ear infection which were treated with antibiotics and ear ointment. She has been started on heartworm preventative, vaccinated and spayed. All she is lacking is a permanent home who has time for grooming, lots of loving, and will take good care of her. Though she is just fine around children, little children might inadvertently play too rough for her delicate bone structure.
