Arrival story: I was taken in as a stray at an up north kennel in July. I almost didn't make it out alive. But I am now in a foster home and enjoying my freedom!
Approximate age / weight: 3 years old and 40lbs.
Personality: I am a confident and happy, well-adjusted boy who has great house manners, especially after being in a shelter for a few months. I am bouncy but not destructive and on the side of medium to high energy. I have a real zest for life!
I have had no accidents or marking issues in my foster home with two other dogs. I know sit, shake and come when called. I am also learning to wait at the door before going inside or out., and I always say please for my meals by sitting still patiently. I am smart and eager to learn!!
I LOVE to play and sniff! It would be a dream come true to have a friendly dog buddy to romp with in my new home! I love toys of all kinds. And while I like to chew, I only do so with toys.
My foster Mom is not really sure of my breed but tells people that I'm black and white and cute all over. I have a beagle bark and a hunting dog mentality. Always ready to go and tuned into sights and sounds around me at all times! I usually only bark when I've found a critter to chase out of the yard. I even tune into the sound of birds and other animals on TV. I may jump fences to chase after prey so you'll need to watch me outdoors. No homes with cats for me.
I've got big, silky soft ears and I'm the perfect size for cuddling in the cold winter months. I love belly rubs. I'm the boy for you if you like leaners! I'll lean into you when you pet me. Love, Trooper
Forever home: I would like a home with an active family who loves the outdoors. I need physical exercise and mental activities to keep me out of trouble. A home with kids over 5 is ideal, as I could knock over a little one easily.

Pre-Adoption Application: To be considered for a dog, it is best to submit a pre-adoption application. The Pre-Adoption Application can be downloaded from our website - http://www.waggintailsdogrescue.org/adoptionprocess.html. Just complete the application and email it back to [email protected]
Waggin' Tails Adoption Information: Waggin' Tails Dog Rescue has a standard adoption fee of $175 for adult dogs. Different adoption fees apply for older dogs, small breeds and puppies - $100 for senior dogs (9 years +), $275 for small breed dogs and $200 for puppies plus a $50 deposit which is returned upon proof of spay/neuter at six months of age.
Our adoption process includes an application, vet reference checks, and a home visit.
We do not have a facility; all of our dogs are fostered in private homes. To view our dogs, please check www.waggintailsdogrescue.org for the dates of our next adoption events. To meet a dog in person, please see our event calendar for the latest information. Arrangements can be made to meet our rescue dogs outside of Saturday adoption events after an approved application is submitted (the application does not imply an obligation by the applicant or by the rescue group).
Please be kind to our volunteers who have made rescue a second job that they do in their spare time after coming home from full-time jobs. E-mail inquiries will be answered much more quickly than phone inquiries; our phone number is a voice mailbox only.
Thank you for your support of rescue and your interest in a rescue dog!
