My name is Toby and I am a super sweet, 7-year old male cocker spaniel. When I came to FURS I was in pretty bad shape (see my “Before” picture #3). I have dry-eye which is a very common condition in cockers. It is very easy to treat but my previous owners left it untreated for years and as a result I developed very painful ulcers on my corneas. I had also developed cherry eye ~ another very common condition that is treatable with minor surgery. However, because of the ulcers I had to go to an eye specialist for the surgery and it couldn’t be done until the ulcers were cleared up. Well, the fine volunteers at FURS took great care of me and got me all the medical treatment I needed - my ulcers are cleared up, I’ve had my surgery and I am ready to go to my new home. I do still have the dry eye condition so I will continue to need eye medication, but it’s not that expensive - about $40-$50/month. I’m housebroken, fine with cats and most laid-back dogs - although I’d be totally satisfied being the only dog (so I get the human all to myself!)
