My Story

Titus is a blue male Neapolitan Mastiff that was taken by animal control officers from his former owner as a warrant case due to neglect. According to the animal control officer who took the dog, he had been trying to obtain this dog for a year. He knew the dog since he was 2-3 months old, because the owner's neighbors kept calling and lodging complaints that the dog had no shelter. When animal control would arrive, the owner hid the dog for several weeks at a time. The animal control officer asked the neighbors to continue calling but they did not. They did not call again for 4-5 months. The officer said he then snuck up a back alley and was horrified at what he saw. This large frame of a dog was a mere skeleton, weighing only 60 pounds, with open, deep infected sores all over him and no longer able to stand. After being in the care of the local shelter for 1 month, the dog gained 30 pounds and most of his wounds have healed. He is still being treated for a front leg ulceration and respiratory infection. Titus is still extremely thin at only 90 pounds. Despite this awful tradgedy, this is the sweetest dog in the world. He was absolutely thrilled to be out of the kennel, in foster care, and was not afraid to show his thanks with some big sloppy kisses. This dog has a long healing process to go through, but has a huge heart of gold and is so thankful to be here. Titus just loves life and people and being free. He has been wonderful here. He has not shown any dog aggression and allows me to take a bone out of his mouth without an issue. Titus still has a long road ahead, but would love to find a special family to share his new life with. Large Breed Dominant dog experience ONLY!
