Despite his rough start to life, he's grown into a Hardy boy. He was formerly known as "Termite" but has grown out of his name as well! He was found on the streets at only 20 lbs. and taken in by a rescue. He tested positive for parvo, and recovered, then got bad kennel cough, and recovered, then got a bad stomach bug where he couldn't keep down food or water, and, you guessed it, recovered! Nothing has been able to keep this big boy down, and we mean that literally; once he seemed to recover fully, he doubled in size! We'd like to think his weight will stick to double digits when fully grown, but it wouldn't be a surprise if another growth spurt landed him in the 100 lbs. range. As with most giant dogs, he loves to snuggle and may find himself on his human's lap. He seems to have some guardian-breed tendancies and can be wary of strangers, but a friendly dog pal to help break the ice can make a big difference! He loves care rides, is very food motivated, and is not picky, although his favorite snack is peanut butter. He could use some extra treats while learning leash walking! He loves playtime with other pups and, despite being larger than his adult doggy pals, knows he's a baby and is very sweet while jumping all over them. He thinks kitties are neat, but prefers to admire them from afar, so he would do fine living with a dog-savvy cat and a family prepared to help their kitty enforce boundaries as this giant baby grows. Basics: Age: 1 year old D.O.B.: Approximately January 2023 Weight: 70lbs, likely 80lbs. fully grown. Needs: Experience with guarding breeds required. Needs an adult-only home. No apartment-style or multi-family homes. No dense neighborhoods Best with another playful dog. Okay with confident, dog-savvy cats. Needs a secure fenced-in yard for supervised playtime. No more than 6 hours alone a day while he masters potty training; longer would require a potty and exercise break in the middle.
