My Story
Tigger, now dubbed Marlowe, has found his folks. People who love him for the sweet, sensitive, goober he is. Clare and David live in the heart of Vancouver, so this once country pumpkin is officially a city boy! Thank-you to Kristen and Jan for transporting him, Anna for fostering him, Shayla and Mike for fostering him over the holidays, and of course Clare and David for choosing our gentle lug-head.
From Tigger's foster mom!
As i am typing this Tigger is seated at the patio door, slightly ajar, so he can just watch what is happening outside from the 3rd floor....he does this with at the window overlooking the yard....placing his big lug head on the sill, steaming up the lower pane, watching. Tig, as he also responds to, is a dream!! He so deserves to be in a forever home. he would do great with a single household, or a family. he is so gentle. little people don't faze him, neither do other dogs. yappy small dogs give him a headache and he just avoids them all together. His big head (with wrinkles and all), stripes and expressive face is adorable. he is definately a hansome gent (constantly turns heads and gets comments) and so well behaved and charming. he is totally house trained with no accidents, even after being introduced to a new home. going for a walk is fairly easy. he will sit for you and shake a paw (both paws!!) before being leashed up. he does pull slightly at the beginning, but with a gentle tug and reminder stops the tugging. he loves to trot. we tried his recall....pretty good, will need reinforcing and have not tried it with distractions yet. long afternoon walks are his favorites....he also will slow down in order to get a pat on the head during the walk....just a thank you for letting him out. upon coming in from a walk, he stops at the door, so to wipe his feet with a towel! condo living suits him fine. he has never sat on any furniture even after ok'ing it... he definatly prefers the floor where he can lay out and stretch....all the way out....hillarious!!! (pics to come ) anywhere you pklace his blanket, that's where he sleeps. the has not damaged anything. He does not bark at all. he did get a little whimpery at first when i left him in the mornings, but has now stopped after two or three small quite whimpers. For such a big boy you do forget he is near, until you sit and he places his big head on your lap. i have tried to wrestle with him, all he does is roll over and want his chest rubbed. you pretty much can do what you want to him and he thinks it is heaven having the attention. we went for a couple of car rides....he jumps up on the back seat and does not move. we went out on the weekend and he just sat at the window with his nose hanging out....pretty funny. he is still a little timid, approaching slow around new people (for a whole 5 minutes), but soon lets it known that he loves to be pet. he has mastered going into an elevator without trying to dig his nails into the floor..took 5 days. he does not beg for food. he is gentle with his food and water, allowing you to interup his feasting. his appetite is better now, but not at what you would expect. his doggie cold is much better now. he does snore ever so slightly at night....usually when he is curled up in a tight donut ball. having grown up with dogs, i have never come across a well mannered dog as this. considering he is only 14 mos old, you would expect a little more trouble, but this guy is awesome. If you want to meet him, let me know.
Tigger is a gentle giant. He has stellar manners. Currently living in an apartment, he is just fine being left alone loose- he just lies down on his favorite blanket, and snoozes the day away. He is a good match for a working person or couple, or someone laving in an apartment or townhouse. He will not get up on furniture, but sure does enjoy when you lie down on the ground next to him to snugle. You will quickly find his belly in the air ready for pets. Tigger is good on and off leash, has great recall. He knows a number of commands, and is very obedient. He is a bit of a country lad, but is adjusting well to city life.
Tigger is a big-headed boy with the bravado of the Cowardy Lion. He can be a bit of a scaredy cat, but his temperment is so sweet and loving. He is a master of the mastiff lean, and within a couple of minutes will be resting his head on you.
Tigger is a mastiff mix of some sort. Whatever he is mixed with has given him a really soft downy coat. He has a mastiff's temperment, and gate. He is house-trained, well-behaved, and good with cats and dogs.
He has all the makings of a wonderful companion, and is an extremely charming gent.
