My Story

Rufis was adopted from the shelter!

Rufis is not yet a Mikey's Chance dog. This is a courtesy listing on behalf of the Tri-Cities Animal Shelter in Pasco, WA. The shelter is getting overcrowded, and because Rufis has been there a long time he could be at risk of being euthanized.

This affectionate, mild-mannered dog.is about 3 years old and and weighs about 55 lbs. He has been at the shelter since March 5th.

Rufis is great on a leash, and heels, sits and lies down on command. He appears to be a non-aggressive alpha male. He has shared a kennel at the shelter with other dogs, which indicates that he does get along well with a canine companion. When introduced to cats at the shelter, he showed little interest in them.

There are two ways to adopt Rufis: directly from Tri-Cities Animal Shelter, in Pasco, or on a foster-to-adopt contract through Mikey's Chance. If you deal directly with the shelter, the adoption fee is $100, which includes a sterilization, microchip and some shots. If you foster-to-adopt through Mikey's chance, the adoption fee is $185, which includes sterilization, microchip, all shots up to date, treatment for internal and external parasites, and other vet care as needed, as well as ongoing support to ensure a successful adoption.

If you can't make a lifetime commitment by adopting this dog but would like to help, please consider fostering or sponsorship. If you foster, we will cover the costs of vet care (spay/neuter, shots, other care as needed), we will provide food if needed, and we will offer other support (loan of a crate and other equipment, advice, etc), while we look for his/her great forever home. Your role will be to provide the dog with a safe home, socialization through regular interaction with your family and other pets, and basic training.
