My Story

Meet Tansy, the delightful two-year-old pup whose spirit is as vibrant as the flower she's named after. Tipping the scales at a perfect medium size of 35 lbs, Tansy combines the charm and energy of what we suspect could be an ACD/Heeler mix, though her full breed mix remains a loving mystery without a DNA test. Tansy's journey to us remains shrouded in mystery, having been found as a stray before enduring several months in a shelter. Her expressive, soulful eyes speak volumes of her yearning for freedom and affection—a wish we're eager to fulfill. Known for her bubbly personality, Tansy greets each day and every new friend with unbridled enthusiasm and warmth. Lacking early puppy training, Tansy is a blank canvas of playful energy and boundless curiosity. She's on the lookout for a patient and loving owner who can guide her through the basics of obedience, socialization, and house manners, transforming her into the exemplary companion we know she can be. While Tansy enjoys the company of other dogs, her heart is most at home with humans, making her the perfect partner for someone who loves to stay active. Whether it's a run in the park, a splash in the lake, or simply playing fetch, Tansy is ready to join in the fun. Tansy has had minimal exposure to children, but her gentle nature and friendly demeanor suggest she could integrate well into a family with kids. As with all introductions, interactions should be slow and monitored to ensure everyone adjusts comfortably and safely. Her energy level is on the higher side, which might be partly due to her breed and partly because she has been confined to a kennel for an extended period. She could become more relaxed once in a more stable and calm environment. Tansy loves engaging in outdoor activities, including running and playing in the water, which suggests she would thrive in a home with access to a yard. Although a yard is ideal, given her size and adaptability, apartment living could be considered on a case-by-case basis. Tansy has tested positive for heartworm, but this should not deter you from providing a loving home to a deserving dog. Heartworm disease is not contagious and can be treated. Each dog will start slow-kill treatment once adopted, but it is the adopter's responsibility to continue. We recommend potential adopters consult their veterinarian to discuss treatment methods and associated expenses. We can sometimes provide fast-kill treatment, with the adoption fee waived and the adopter covering the treatment cost, which typically equals the adoption fee. Please get in touch with us for more info on this. ****Tansy urgently needs to find a home as the shelter is severely overcrowded, putting many dogs at risk of euthanasia. A confirmed adopter is required for us to proceed with her rescue.**** Requirements: -Research HW treatment options (slow & fast kill) -Ideally, a home with a yard (fenced is a plus). -Preferably a single-dog household. Health Status: Tansy is up-to-date on vaccinations, dewormed, microchipped, spayed, on monthly prevention, and heartworm positive—ready to start a new chapter in a loving home. Important Notes: All dogs are located in Texas and will be transported ONLY after adoption, with transportation costs included in the adoption fee. While we make educated guesses about the breed based on their features and characteristics, we encourage adopters to focus on Tansy's personality, behavior, and compatibility with their lifestyle rather than breed labels.
