UPDATE: We are absolutely thrilled to post this update. Taeko is now heartworm NEGATIVE. He’s been on ivermectin for just under a year and he’s been retested. He is clear of the nastily heart worms. There are different schools of thought on softkill vs traditional treatment. We’ve not posted this update for purposes of debate, just to let you know this boy is in great shape! Yippee. Taeko is a friendly 4 year old guy and will make a great addition to a lucky family. It would be helpful to read up on the Shiba Inu breed for information on typical breed tendencies. Taeko has tested heartworm positive, but do not let that be a deterrent when considering adoption. There are options available to address this issue and we'll be happy to discuss them with you. Taeko is not a fan of other male dogs or dogs larger than he is. Sweet canine sisters with a laid back personality would be his ideal housemate. Taeko weighs about 34 lbs. and his adoption fee is $100 PLEASE NOTE; Great care must be taken to ensure your Shiba Inu is securely fenced in and monitored when outside. Exterior doors have to be kept closed tightly. We would recommend a home with older kids or adults who are conscientious about doors, gates and the like. These dogs are known runners and once they are loose, catching them is not easy. Prior experience with the breed would be helpful. Crating the dogs when unattended is a good idea for their safety. All of our animals are provided with age appropriate vaccinations, spayed/neutered and micro chipped prior to adoption.
