My Story

All HSWA dogs are either at our Dog Adoption Facility or in foster homes. All dogs require an appointment to meet. Please call us at 205-554-0011 or email [email protected] to request an appointment to see the dog/puppy and to check availability. Visit us on Facebook! www.facebook.com/humaneswa MEET SUSIE ?If you’re looking for an all-around, fun-loving girl, then you’ll want to meet our Susie! She has boundless energy, which is great for all the games of fetch that she’s going to want you to play with her, and she’s up for any adventure! She’ll also be great at helping you make friends, since she is so social…Susie never meets a stranger and wants everyone to be her bestie. Susie is an approximately 2-year-old Labrador Retriever / Mountain Cur mix, we think, but there’s definitely more lab in her than anything else. Her black coat is short and smooth, and she’s got white on her neck, chest, and each of her 4 paws. One of her legs has more white on it than the others, almost like she stepped in a paint bucket. Her tail is probably the most intriguing aspect of her appearance…it curls up over her back, almost back onto itself. A medium-sized dog, Susie currently weighing a healthy 60 lbs. Taken from a local shelter after being picked up as a stray that no one came to claim, Susie is now with us and looking for her forever home! Susie is extremely sweet-natured, loves to be around people, and has the intelligence and capacity to learn quickly if time is taken to teach her. This girl also loves her toys! Her current favorite is a Bark Box pink rose that she doesn’t want to be without and frequently carries it around in her mouth. But as much as she loves her toys and play time in the yard, she may like attention and pets more. Susie wants you to know that she loves car rides, so given her age and energy level, she would make an excellent running, walking, or hiking buddy! Because of her energy level, Susie will need a fenced yard if left outside unattended at all, but she is far too social to be an outside dog as she just wants to be around people. Her energy level also may not be suited for an apartment setting unless there is lots of outside exercise incorporated into her daily activities because this girl loves to play! Susie should make a great family pet and should be fine with children 10 and older, maybe not younger ones that she may accidentally knock over with joyful jumping. We have started on her crate training. Susie is up to date on her vet care, is heartworm negative, is microchipped, and has been spayed. She is on heartworm and flea/tick prevention. If you want a pup that can be your next adventure companion and also has a great personality and is excited to see you every time you come home, then look no further because Susie is your girl! ? Our adoption fee is $125. Read more information on our adoption process at www.humanesocietyofwa.org/howtoadopt.html.
