This pretty blonde babydoll was found running at large along with Gryffin in Bay Minette, AL, at a location where dogs are frequently dumped. When Gryffin was taken into our rescue, the rescuers held off corralling Sugar as they noticed her enlarged teats and didn't want to leave her puppies without their momma. After a week or so no puppies were seen with her and the rescuers knew it was okay to bring Sugar to safety. It's likely Sugar and Gryffin were a breeding pair and when the nincompoops were finished breeding them, they discarded them like old unwanted shoes. Sweet Sugar is estimated to be about 4 years old and is a stunning blonde field-style Golden Retriever, weighing 65 lbs. She is shy and a bit unsure of herself, but she wants so badly to be loved and petted. One of Sugar's FAVORITE things in this whole wide world is peanut butter!! Each day she looks forward to her peanut butter-filled Kong. The staff will sometimes give her an extra Kong since she loves them so much! Sugar would do well with a mentor dog in her forever home; a calm and confident buddy who can show her everything is going to be okay. Since leashed walks were not part of her former life, she will need a physically fenced yard while her adopter helps her learn that the leash means fun. Sugar is spayed, up-to-date on vaccinations, heartworm negative, and micro-chipped. She has been given a Proheart-6 injection for 6 months of heartworm prevention. A loving, patient, and consistent adopter will bring out the best in this girl and she will become the dog she was meant to be! She has such a desire to love and be loved. With time, patience, and unconditional love, she will relish the feeling of being a cherished companion. Under the terms of the contract, all adopters are required to bring their SGRR dog to a vet within 7 business days. All dogs receive basic veterinary care prior to adoption. However, if an adopter's vet identifies an illness that an adopter is not willing to treat, then the dog may be returned and a full refund would be provided. Most of our dogs are fostered in private homes. We do not have a facility to visit. We are committed to our dogs before, during, and after adoption! To this end, the rescue retains an interest in each dog and our dogs can never be surrendered, re-homed, or sold. Should an adopter no longer be able to keep their SGRR dog, SGRR must be notified so that we can take the dog back into rescue and place it into another home. We reserve the right to remove a dog at any time should we find the adopter is no longer providing proper care. Adopters agree to follow up visits as needed.
