My Story

CONTACT: ELAINE @ [email protected] This sweeter than honey girl is 6 months old - she has courageously suffered through at least two weeks of laying with both bones in her leg broken and unattended, narrowly escaped euthanasia at the shelter, and is now stoically wading through rehabilitation - she has been loving and gentle throughout this ordeal and is beginning to walk/run out to the garden by herself - she has even learned to negotiate two sets of stairs to gain a sunny spot in the solar greenhouse beside her foster buddies - she comes to her name, uses pee pads reliably and is almost house trained - she is willing on the leash but still finds it a bit scary - tummy rubs are her favorite "hello" and she is a great snuggler - her cute underbite invites a gentle hug and reassurance that forever love is on the way - she is a quiet girl - we think she is an Italian Greyhound, Chihuahua mix - a bit thin right now, but with her good appetite she will soon gain her appropriate weight - Sprite gets along well with a variety of dogs, several sizes, several breeds - she is curious and indicates a yearning to run and play - her favorite chew toy is a rawhide bone - i think that the best home for her would be with another small, playful and amenable dog of either gender - children should be 8 years and older - she will always be small and slender, but she has the biggest heart and gentlest soul in all of New Mexico - meet her at our adoption clinic in a few weeks when her leg is healed (he Vet said four more week with the splint from Dec 4/09) - check her new pictures on this web site as she progresses with her rehabilitation and removal of the splint contact elaine at: [email protected] Home visits are required for all adoptions. Special arrangements for adopters out of Albuquerque must be made in advance, but out-of-town adoptions may not be possible. If you live outside of Albuquerque, please call the NMAF office at (505)881-7297 to ask about an out-of-town home visit before traveling to Albuquerque to attend an adoption clinic.
