Sparkles

Whenever a sweet and engaging Terrier mix gets into an urgent situation, Farfel's rescuers like to help. We find that dogs of these breed mixes are very loving, super- smart and make loyal family companions. They fit very well into a household and make excellent best friends for their people as well as gentle canine friends. Sparkles is one of these cuddly and very sweet Terrier mixes. The Arkansas vets believe Sparkles to be about 18 months old and 12 lbs of pure love. Sparkles (once comfortable in her environment) is very puppyish in her enthusiasm for all people that are kind to her. She has a love of life and positive attitude that touches the heart. After all, this very deserving girl has never had a loving and nurturing family to call her own. She has been a victim of circumstance in her life. Farfel's Rescue is committed to changing this for this sweet girl that has so much to offer a committed family. Rescue dogs can initially be a bit shy or nervous when they arrive on transport. This is expected in light of the very long transports and stresses of rehoming. When an adopting family is sensitive to the challenges of change and acclimation for these dogs, the transition is far easier. A home with a very loving and nurturing family that understands that blossoming takes time is perfect for Sparkles. Socialization, kindness and pure love are a gift to a dog that is undergoing a life change. If Sparkles is given time and patience, she will absolutely shine. Sparkles is such a great age and size. At just about 18 months old, she is a perfect age (young enough to be open to new concepts and wonderful possibilities in her life with many healthy, active years ahead yet old enough to have left her babyish behaviors behind). At 12 lbs, Sparkles is perfect for walks along gorgeous Colorado trails. And then at day's end, she'd love nothing more than cuddling on the couch for some TV time followed by close snuggles all night long. We envision active, dog-crazy retirees for our sweet as can be Terrier. Sparkles would also do well with a younger family that works from a home-based office to love this sweet girl up periodically throughout the day. We feel that Sparkles is too sensitive to spend long hours alone while her family works full-time outside of the home. Farfel's Rescue would like to see Sparkles in a home where she'll get consistent mental stimulation, exercise and tons of loving hugs. A positive reinforcement/force free group training class promotes great behavior, bonding and confidence for a young pup whose self-esteem will fly high while she masters her skills. Farfel's feels so strongly about a training opportunity for all dogs that we're unwilling to adopt to a family who's unwilling to give Sparkles this opportunity. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of approved positive reinforcement / force free trainers in your area. Sparkles has a beautiful coat that is currently shelter-sad. She'll require a lifelong commitment to grooming as well as great nutrition (5 star food and a daily salmon oil supplement are great lifelong choices for coat care as well as longevity) to keep Sparkles scruffy Terrier coat (with the most beautiful coloring!) super- healthy, cottony-soft and shining with good health. .
