My Story

Sophie (05-045) is a female basset who was turned in by her owners. She is a mostly white, tri-colored girl. Sophie is healthy and up-to-date on her vaccinations, but she needs to gain a few pounds. This girl is 1 to 2 years old and is spayed. Sophie is very affectionate - she loves to sit and cuddle, gives kisses. She's very calm for such a young dog, and she doesn't pull too much on the leash. She doesn't jump up much, so she'd be great around small kids as long as they are gentle with her. She does have this very deep bark for such a little girl! Also, when she wants to play, she will "ribbit" at you - it sounds like a a cross between a growl and a bullfrog! She has never had an accident in the house. Before she learned the dog door, she would bark at the door to go out. Sophie has a genetic defect in her hips that might cause her problems down the line. Right now, she seems fine. She certainly plays hard enough with the other bassets in her foster home! She is taking vitamin supplements to help her joints.
