My Story

Sierra is a 5 year old (best guess) Schnauzer/Poodle/Terrier mix. She is spayed, up to date on shots, and she weighs around 27lbs. She also had a dental cleaning recently. She was pulled from a local shelter and was identified as a stray. Sierra is fostered in Huntingtown, MD. Sierra is a little teddy bear! She will need to be groomed regularly. Sierra is a friendly pup that craves attention and wants to be near her people as much as possible. She just wants love, love, love all day. She will demand the attention like a little Diva. Sierra gets along with the resident dogs and foster siblings. She is still warming up to playing with them, and she is on the medium energy side. She also needs one hand on her all the time until she settles down or takes naps. She sleeps almost all afternoons and through the night. Her medical history is unknown to us, but she did have two benign mammary tumors removed. Sierra had seizures after being spayed, and she now takes medicine twice a day. She needs a family that understands this, but please don't let this scare you away! Sierra is doing amazing on her medication. Sierra is house-trained, is easy on leash and sleeps in a bed next to her foster parents. She wants to go for *walkies* and stands by the door until it's time to go out. She does not pull and walks well on a leash; she takes her walks very seriously and walks steady like she's on the job. She does well with kids, cats, and is non reactive on walks. Sierra loves to eat, and just snuggle, snuggle, snuggle. She is also very soft! PLEASE NOTE: We review veterinary care for applicants. This includes regular well visits, core vaccinations, spay/neuter, heartworm, tickborne tests, regular monthly heartworm prevention, and flea/tick prevention. Please contact your veterinarian’s office to give them permission to speak to us. Applications are available at www.puppypawsrescue.org If your application meets our adoption criteria, we will contact you within 1 week. At that time, you will be contacted (usually by email) to schedule a phone interview and a virtual home visit (Facetime, Skype, etc). Due to the volume of applications, applications that do not move forward to an interview may not receive a reply within that time frame.
