My Story

ADOPTED! - Shy Guy is a sweet little dog who has a very sad story to tell. He lived in southern Indiana and he was left behind--along with twenty-some other dogs--when his owner's house burned down. For a long time, the neighbors provided water and threw some food over the fence for these dogs, but eventually the authorities were called to rescue the animals because many were in very poor condition. Shy Guy is about about 7 or 8 years young, and he is just a little thing, weighing approximately 10 lbs. He has the most beautiful silky black coat, with just a fashionable dash of white. Although you can see in his eyes the sadness he has experienced, Shy Guy still loves people. He enjoys the company of other dogs (so we'd prefer he not be an only pet) and he is good with cats. Shy Guy is heartworm negative and he has been neutered and wormed, he is up to date on his immunizations, and he has been microchipped. We are looking for a home in which Shy Guy will not be a latchkey dog, so an owner who is retired or who works out of his/her home--or just part time--would be ideal. Shy Guy needs a doggie playmate and a safely fenced yard to play in (no invisible fencing please). His adoption fee is $250. If you are interested in learning more about Shy Guy, please e-mail us at: [email protected] and tell us a little about yourself, your family, your lifestyle, your work schedule etc. If we feel you would be a good fit for Shy Guy, we will then send you an adoption application. Please consider adopting Shy Guy. There are many advantages to adopting a mature dog (as opposed to a puppy), and this little guy has many healthy happy love-filled years ahead of him.
Please click on "One Starfish Rehoming Connections" under the photo to read more about our rescue's adoption policies and fees. We do not operate a humane society or shelter, so we do not have a facility that is open to the public. Our dogs are fostered by volunteers in private homes, and are not available for viewing until an adoption application is filled out and references are checked. Please read the information on our home page (by clicking on our rescue name below this dog's photo) before contacting us.
