Shrek as SHREK

Hi, my name’s Shrek ~ could there possibly be a better costume (or name) for ME ?!?

I’m a huge, loveable clown (well ok, monster ~ but a nice one!) that adores hugs and frolicking with my human and canine friends. I’m not much on exercise, preferring to be the resident couch potato, but I’ll stick by your side through thick and thin ‘cause I’m the most loyal friend you’ll ever encounter! Some humans can initially be a little intimidated by my size but my good nature and impeccable manners usually wins them over immediately, it always pays to be the perfect gentleman. I enjoy all my friends at our indoor multi dog foster home and am super nice to everyone I meet because I believe everyone is my friend. The food’s sure good and the treats are out of this world yummy; everyone says my fur is sooooo nice but that’s what good nutrition will do for ya! Typical of the original AmStaff breeding, I have a stable, even temperament, am calm, intelligent, easy to train, affectionate, extremely gentle and very well behaved indoors knowing that’s the place to be kicked back. I’m a very sweet boy who’s super socialized, I even get to come inside because I’m completely housebroken, crate trained and I sit instantly (without being asked, thank you very much) for treats and always mind my manners. I also know, and instantly obey, the commands for down, stay, wait, load up, leave it and I walk right by your side on a loose lead! It’s really easy to be a good boy when all the people you meet and life are so wonderful!

I love to play with toys, fetch the ball, enjoy car rides where I sit nicely to take in the scenery, and especially love laying in your lap to watch a movie or just snuggle ~ if you’ll let me! I never, ever jump on humans though and am super good with children because I have a heart of gold and I love humans of all sizes. I learn really quickly and love to please. My foster Mom says I’m her “sweetest boy” because I’m so happy to do whatever she asks and never make a noise. We’d really like to stay together but she says I deserve a better home than she can give me, one where I can snuggle in bed with my human(s) and be with them all the time ~ her dog won’t let me do that here… (My poor mom, she actually gets tears in her eyes when we talk about how great my new home will be ~ she really, really loves me a lot!) She tells everyone that I’m a great companion and friend because I have a heart as big as all outdoors and how proud she is of me ~ my well-mannered, easygoing personality and polished behavior make her rank me as a sterling ambassador for my breed and she’s unbelievably picky when making comments like that! My dream is to find my very own forever home with my own special person(s) who will treasure me and my silly wiggles and grins and enjoy all the love I have to offer in return!

Please do not worry: no dog was tortured or traumatized during this photo shoot, as evidenced by all their smiles! The dogs had so much fun, thoroughly enjoying all the extra attention while prancing about in their party gear, that the same may easily be said for the various humans involved. Secondly, the selection of costume character is specifically intended to accurately reflect Shrek’s “true identity” ~ this guy is a big, highly animated but mild-mannered “ogre” extraordinaire!!!

Shrek is a 2 year old, full grown 65 lb. pure bred neutered male American Staffordshire Terrier who is up-to-date with all routine shots, preventatives and micro-chipped. Shrek’s $200 adoption fee includes his neuter, de-worming, heartworm test, complete vaccine series, first month of heartworm and Frontline preventatives, microchip and basic behavior training. Shrek’s a gentle soul and a ready made family pet who more than deserves his own home ~ this is our own “pick-of-the-litter” and “dog-of-the-year” for 2009!
