My Story

******Please note, once completing the initial screen you will be connected with the placement for a video chat. Transports run every few weeks and we will have the dog on the next available transport once approved. If you are not able to accept a dog until a specific time period, please apply at that time************ We are a volunteer run rescue and donate our time to these dogs. IF you are not serious about moving forward in our adoption process, please do not apply. If someone other than yourself is part of the decision making process, please make sure you have spoken with them and they are on board. We really do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog. Sheba, 9 months old, spayed female, black mouth cur / retriever mix, 45 pounds. Sheba is in a foster home in Houston, TEXAS and can transport out of state once an approved adopter is lined up! Sheba was found on the streets of a small town north of Houston notorious for dumping animals. Sheba is a sweet, good natured gal who lives in a home with several other dogs. She is kid and cat friendly, as her foster manages a TNR colony of nearly 25 cats, some of whom go inside the house. She's been around kids over the ages of 8yrs old and given her playful puppy exuberance, we'd recommend a home with older kids until she's a bit older herself. She's very sweet but doesn't know her size and could inadvertently knock over a toddler. She does very well on a leash and goes for pack walks using a leash splitter. She walks slow and does not pull, and keeps to one side. She's house broken and not had any accidents in the house, sleeping all night loose in the bedroom without issue. She's acclimated to having backyard access every 2-3 hours and going out first thing in the morning, but her new furever home should expect some potential for regression until she gets settled into her new routine. Sheba is very playful with other dogs and lives with several ranging from small (22lbs), medium (47lbs) and large (85lbs). She has a healthy play style and is learning to leave the others alone when they're done, but she still has some room to grow there. Sheba is kennel trained and takes her meals in there as a general rule of her foster (she's not displayed any signs of food aggression). When Sheba is unable to be supervised, she's also crated as she is still a puppy and does get bored/tears up toys or pillows if allowed. She's been kenneled up to 4hrs without any issue. Sheba has a very sweet temperament and is very careful at approaching when a new person, animal or even toy enters her way, it takes a few minutes for her to trust she sets a boundary not at all aggressive but just extremely shy. She has lots of energy & loves to have toys thrown across the yard, brings it back but doesn’t give them up yet! Sheba's foster has some chronic health issues that require frequent rest breaks, and Sheba has quickly accustomed to being quiet or taking naps when its time. Her foster describes Sheba as an amazing companion who recently learned to jump on her high bed, now taking to sleeping there throughout the night. She says Sheba would do great with other dogs or her own human who would give her lots of attention because she’s not a loner, she loves the company of any other living creatures. :) ***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. We rarely know a dog's exact age nor are we able to tell the true or full breed mix of dogs as our information is limited most of the time. *** Interested in applying to adopt her?
