My Story

ADOPTED
1/22/06 Shane met his new family yesterday. The people were really great and Shane certainly worked his magic. It was so cool because Shane reminded us all so much of Robert and their stories are so similar. Shane will brighten up their lives after the loss of their beloved doggy, just like Robert did.

- Shane is our newest arrival! He is a 10 month old Irish Water Spaniel mix (we think) who is sweet, gentle, calm, kissy, wiggle butt! He is going to be large because he is already 54 pounds. He may go to 80 pound full grown.

He is a complete lover boy and just wants to curl up in your arms, lean into you when he next to you, give you one or both paws, or just lay on the floor and give belly! As always, we have had him neutered and we are looking for the perfect home for this darling pup!

When we first met him at the SPCA he had severe flea dermatitis and his hair was falling out in clumps. He looked so sad and dejected. His family had to move and could not take him. As sweet as he is, I'm sure they were very sad to have to leave him there.

Thankfully one of our wonderful volunteers Meghan decided she needed to help him so she paid to sponsor him. We went back for him and thanks to the care he received at the shelter his hair has grown in and it is very curly!! Originally we thought he was a black lab but this a water hound with a gorgeous coat.

As always, black dogs are the hardest to place and the most difficult to take pictures of. I would just like to say that Shane is one of the prettiest, OK, most handsome pups we have right now. You need to see him in person to see what a strikingly handsome boy he is!

Update from Shane's foster mom. Shane is an absoloute doll, a very big sweet young man. He gets along with dogs, cats, and parrots. Shane is house broken and very much wants to please. Shane is large dog, but so gentle, when he gives you his giant paw, he sets it gently in your hand. You look at Shane and think he is bull in a china shop but he is just the opposite.

He loves to play and hang out outside with the other dogs. He loves dog toys, of any kind and keeps his chewing strictly to them. Shane is a very easy dog for a young guy, he makes mistakes usually just once, he doesn't like to make mistakes twice. We are all enjoying Shane very much, Shane would be an awesome addition to any family, he will bring alot of joy.

1/01/05 I know these pictures do not capture Shane's true beauty, but here he is. He is a doll he loves to give hugs. I will be sitting on the couch and he will gently step up half way, with his hind feet on the floor and put both front arms around my head and give very gentle kisses, it just makes you feel so good when you are having a hard day. He loves to just flop in your lap to say hi, a real lover. He is not a submissive dog he holds his own among my brood of wild ones quite well. He is totally house broken and loves to play. He can be very mischevious, he loves to tease my very uptight Whimeraner Mr. Sage but he can get along with any personality. He does well with my cats and is just a joy to have around. Even my husband has totally fallen for Shane he can win over even the hardest of hearts. It will be with a heavy heart that I give up this darling boy. But he and I both are very anxious to meet his forever family, Shane deserves the very best.

PLEASE NOTE: Any dog/pup adopted from us must have a fenced in property either physical or Invisible Fence IF there are children in the home.

We also expect that if no one is home all day, arrangements will be made to provide the dog with at least (1) 'potty break' daily, whether it is through a family member, neighbor or petsitting service. We know that it is impossible for us humans to 'hold it' for 8-10 hours, so we do not want our 'shelter kids' to be expected to do so.

We have several petsitting service companies that we can recommend:

www.homesweethomepetsit.org/ in PA & DE

www.delawarepooperscoopers.com in PA, NJ, & DE

http://www.tlcpetsitting.net/ in MD

We also have a wonderful all day Doggy Day Care service:
Fuzzy Butts Doggy Day Care in Chadds Ford, PA
www.fuzzybuttsPA.com
(I have visited this facility and it is wonderful and reasonable)
