Shadow - AD 3/08

MARCH 2008 - ADOPTED!!! Update: Shadow continues to be a GREAT dog! He has shown us that he has a nice even temperament and is in very good shape. Our vet commented on how good his joints seemed to be! Shadows one and only "issue" is that if given the chance he will bolt and RUN RUN RUN!!!!!!!!!! This boy can seriously haul tail! It's amazing to watch him run - he just loves it. Shadow would do well with a family who has a lot of property for him to explore while remaining contained, or someone who is active and walks a lot. Because of his bolting, we will look for an adult-only home to reduce the chances of an inadvertently left-open door. Shadow will be gone in a flash. We have found that he has been doing this his whole life and that is the reason he was brought to the shelter. This boy may be 9 - but he is not ready for retirement! He is ready to BOOGIE!!!

Shadow is a beautiful 9 year old Golden who was brought to the Westport CT Humane Society by someone who considered him a burden. One of our volunteers saw his picture and we knew we had to help! When we picked Shadow up he was very anxious, very dirty and very disoriented. Despite the great care he received at the Humane Society, he wanted OUT! We got him home, got him groomed and waited to see what this "burden" was all about. We waited to see if there was anything about him that would make somone not want him. We waited...and waited...and waited...and, well you get the idea! Shadow has proven to be PERFECTION in a Golden. He's housetrained, has fabulous house manners, is terrific with other dogs, is gentle, affectionate, listens well...he's the whole package! He loves to sleep in patches of sun, enjoys the fenced yard at his foster home and LOVES to chew Nylabones! Aside from being the world's most perfect dog - he is GORGEOUS to boot! Shadow would love to find a home where he will be on the receiving end of lots of attention and affection. We would like to see him find a home where someone is home more often than not - after being considered a burden for 9 yrs, we think Shadow deserves to be the cherished center of someone's world.

Our dogs are fostered in private homes - we do not have a facility to visit.
