Shadow

Shadow is currently living and training with her handlers at Beaumont Correctional Center. Through a partnership with the Virginia Department of Corrections, Pixie's Pen Pals (a program of FETCH a Cure) places homeless dogs in the care of incarcerated people for dedicated, individualized training and socialization guided by canine behavior specialists. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Shadow is about 2 years old, and was surrendered to Richmond Animal Care and Control. The staff there saw that she was wary of strangers and anxious in the kennel environment, but they knew she could blossom with a bit of help. Shadow moved into Beaumont Correctional on July 24th to begin training with her handlers and the other pups in the Pen Pals program (check out the adoption profiles for Buddy, Broly, and Nieva to get to know the whole pack!). Her handler at Beaumont says, “Shadow has a very sweet and gentle personality. She is timid to start and a bit wary of new people, but she warms up with time… She seems to be adjusting well. She is curious, very gentle, and wants to play at all times.” Keep an eye on FETCH a Cure’s social media in the coming weeks as we learn more about her personality and ideal home!
