SHADOW Male, neutered 2 years old Pit bull terrier 56 lbs. Up-to-date on core vaccines and takes monthly flea/tick/heartworm prevention Shadow came to LOVEPAWS from the PG County shelter where his time was limited due to overcrowding. We got him out of there just in time and discovered what an amazing boy he is! He went into his foster home already knowing 'sit' 'drop' and 'no' and he responds to his name when called. Shadow is the perfect dog for an active family that loves to hike and walk or with another active dog in the home to meet his energy needs. You won't find a sweeter, friendlier, more loving boy than Shadow. He gets along with dogs, dog-savvy cats (he likes to entice them to play), kids and adults. He's simply perfect! Shadow's dream day would include playing and wrestling with the resident dog/s after breakfast and a walk, followed by giving kisses to his favorite people and hearing what a good boy he is (he's a very good boy!). A treat for the good boy would be in order too. He's happy to spend his day by your side while you work or on the couch or on his bed working on a chew toy or lick mat. After an afternoon/evening walk and dinner, he'd love to end his day on the couch next to (or on, if you allow him) with a chew or squeaky toy and then settle down to sleep in bed with his people. Shadow has never met a stranger! He's a young, sweet boy that wants to be everybody's friend! He's a social butterfly and easily makes new friends daily on his walks, both human and canine. He walks well on leash in a harness and sits nicely and allows kids to pet him on his walks and adores the attention. On his walks, he often stops and stares at birds, squirrels and deer and will pull towards them if they move, but only seems to want to be their playmate if they would only let him! To say Shadow LOVES to play with other dogs is an understatement. Shadow has had several play dates with dogs big and small and is great at reading their body language and level of play. He loves to tear around the yard and wrestle on his play dates. Inside the house, it only takes him a few minutes to settle next to his people and fall asleep. While Shadow is crate-trained, he asks for an adoptive home with another active dog that won't crate him for more than 4 hours during the day due to his young age and energy level.
