Scout and her brother truly embody the spirit of "rescue." At just 10 weeks old, they were found sick and starving in rural Texas, taken in by animal control, and placed in a kill shelter. Thankfully, Freedom Street Rescue intervened, giving them a chance at a better life in the Northeast. Now a happy, healthy, and energetic 4-month-old puppy, Scout loves all the simple joys of puppyhood: tug of war, wrestling, playing with toys, and exploring her surroundings. She loves running alongside the adult dogs in her foster home and, when she's done playing, enjoys being petted as she drifts off to sleep. Scout got her name because she’s always sniffing around, scouting out new adventures, with her brother trailing behind. Scout’s foster mom believes she has the potential to become a great hunting or tracking dog due to her curiosity and keen sense of smell. She adores water and often uses her size, strength, and speed to her advantage as she is faster than her brother. Scout is very intelligent; she learned to use the doggie door just by watching the adult dogs in her foster home. Independent and fearless, Scout displays many alpha qualities. She would thrive with an experienced owner who can give her a job. Scout appears to be a Black Mouth Cur/Hound mix with a soft, short, red/tan coat and cream markings. Her tail and snout have distinct black markings, and she has charming floppy ears. Weighing 30 lbs at 16 weeks, Scout is expected to grow into a large dog, approximately 60 lbs.
