My Story

If sweetness had a face, it would be 10-year-old Scooter's face! With his wide, warm eyes and wide, welcoming smile, the 35-pound pup was sadly surrendered when his original owner entered Assisted Living. Truly a one-person pet, he's now happily lapping up the attention of his fosters, particularly that of his foster mom, resting his head on her, showing his paw for more love, and following her everywhere she goes. Known to hop up onto the couch and lie above her when she's watching TV or using the computer, he also sleeps, comfortably and cozily, on her bed. Calmly accepting the pets of his fosters' grandsons, Scooter loves playing with his doggy foster friends, even chasing a larger one around the yard, taking one or two half-hour walks a day, walking wonderfully on leash, and then napping for the rest of it. Preferring wet food to kibble, he loves all treats, especially Wonder Nuggets, is motivated by love, knows "come, "sit" and "no," is so well mannered that he's never crated and is almost fully house-trained to use a doggy door. Now all sociable Scooter needs is an extremely loving home with someone there more often than not to share his golden years snuggling and cuddling with him. Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes every pet should find a wonderful and caring home. To ensure each pet finds the best possible home, we ask you fill out our adoption application so we can learn more about you and your household. We review each application in the order submitted and will contact you within 48 hours (please check your spam folder for our emails). If you and the dog are a good match then we'll connect you with our dog's foster parents to chat more in-depth. If both you and the foster agree that the dog is a good fit then a meet and greet is scheduled. We require applicants' dogs to meet ours to ensure they get along. We'll ask you to read and sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee to complete the adoption when it comes time. Our adoption fees help cover the costs of saving more lives! A home visit will be scheduled within one week of your new pet going home with you. The adoption fee for this pet is $100. Our adoption fee covers the following: Spay/neuter Microchip DAPP vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Rabies vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Adopters shall be responsible for all vaccinations after adoption. Please fill out an adoption application by clicking here . Please give us 48 hours to review your application and respond to you. (Remember to check your spam folder for our emails!) We want our pets to go to a lifelong new home, so thank you for your patience during the adoption process! Please email [email protected] for more information, as we can't accept calls. PLEASE NOTE: The breed listed is the information we've received from the shelter. Shelters usually guess at the breed, so there is no guarantee, as we don't DNA test our foster pets. Here is some interesting info on breed identification: https://arrcolorado.org/category/puppy-dog-tips/ Our adoption process is: 1. Fill out our Adoption Application online. We'll contact you within 48 hours to answer any questions you may have about the pet. 2. If the pet looks like a great match, we'll schedule a meet and greet and ask you to fill out our online Adoption Agreement if you'd like to proceed with adopting. Once you've completed the Adoption Agreement and pay the pet's Adoption Fee, you can arrange to pick up your new furry family member!
